Joe Wicks, famously known as The Body Coach, is back with a new mission: to get kids moving, but this time in a whole new dimension. His latest project, Activate, isn’t your typical workout video series. It’s a vibrant, animated adventure designed to make fitness fun and accessible for children everywhere.
In collaboration with award-winning animation house Studio AKA, Wicks has been transformed into a cheerful animated avatar, guiding kids through 5-minute bursts of exercise. But he’s not alone—joining him are a team of quirky, alien sidekicks who add a playful, sci-fi twist to each routine. Think of it as PE class meets Saturday morning cartoons.
The idea behind Activate is simple: short, engaging workouts that kids can do at school or at home without any special equipment. While Wicks became a household name during the pandemic for his live-streamed PE with Joe sessions, Activate marks a creative evolution by blending fitness with storytelling to keep kids entertained and active.
Interestingly, major TV broadcasters initially passed on the project, but that didn’t stop Wicks. He took Activate straight to YouTube, where it’s now freely available to classrooms and families worldwide. The series also has serious backing, with Universal Music providing original soundtracks and the UK government supporting its rollout in schools.
With childhood inactivity on the rise, Activate offers a fresh solution. By combining animation, music, and movement, Wicks is proving that exercise doesn’t have to be a chore but also an adventure. As Joe Wicks puts it, he’s here to help kids “move more, smile more, and feel better,” one animated workout at a time.
